Right, here’s the thing: I’ve just signed up for the Helotes Half Marathon as part of the Alamo Beer Series. Why? Good question. I’ve never run a half marathon in my life, and until recently, my idea of physical activity was trying to find the remote from the sofa. Turns out losing over 80 pounds doesn’t just change your waistline—it makes you think you're an Olympian.
Now, if you’re thinking, “That sounds like a brilliant idea, mate,” you’re clearly not familiar with my penchant for fitness, which is about as reliable as a chocolate teapot! 13.1 miles? I can’t even walk from my car to the coffee shop without considering a nap halfway there.
But here I am, on a quest to run for a cause that matters—supporting Childsafe-sa.org. If I’m going to embarrass myself publicly, at least let it be for a good reason, right? And let’s be honest—the promise of beer at the finish line just might be the real reason I signed up! Nothing like a little liquid motivation.
So, join me on this ridiculous journey from couch potato to... whatever the opposite of that is! Let’s make this painful, laughable, and for a brilliant charity. Bring it on!
